The Adoption suits handled by this department are confidential records according to state law, and the public does not have access to them. While this department cannot reveal information on adoption suits filed, they can refer you to an agency that may be able to provide further information.
This department works closely with the two Juvenile Court Judges and a Hearing Officer at Juvenile Court, the District Attorney's office, other state agencies and attorneys in processing juvenile pleadings. The different suits this department handles include:
- Adoptions/Surrenders
- Petitions for Disclosure
- Voluntary Transfers of Custody
- Terminations of Parental Rights
- UIFSAs (Uniform Intrastate Foreign Support Act)
The Adoptions Department also assigns suit numbers and divisions to new suits filed; files and collects court costs; posts the documents and costs to the system; processes pleadings and files them into the records and files the records to be checked out to the Judges as requested.
