The Civil Appeals Department is responsible for preparing the appellate records for all Civil, Probate, Family and Juvenile records appealed from the 19th Judicial District Court, Family Court and Juvenile Court to a higher Court.

Once the order granting an appeal is signed by the Judge and the necessary costs are paid by the Appellant, the return date is set. This department works closely with the Judges' offices and attorneys to prepare the appellate records.

This department not only handles the appellate records, but is also responsible for the transfer of suits from the 19th Judicial District Court to other parishes once the costs have been paid.
