Microfilm

(225) 389 -3956

The Microfilm Department films, develops and duplicates many of the documents that are filed in the Clerk of Court's office, including Mortgages, Cash Sales, Plat Maps, Chattel Mortgages, Conveyance Books, Marriage Licenses and older Civil, Probate and Family Suits. Current suits and criminal records reels are also developed, duplicated and distributed by the Microfilm Department.

Duplicate films generated by the Microfilm Department are distributed to the Copy, Public Service and Mortgage departments. They are also distributed to the Coursey branch office and to the Baker and Zachary offices for viewing by the public and the generation of copies. All real estate indexes are duplicated and distributed by the Microfilm Department in an annual updating project.

All reels filmed or received by the department are stored in original form in a vault featuring strict temperature and humidity control, greatly aiding their preservation.

The Microfilm Department will be changing its procedures with the conversion to digital imaging beginning in July 2008. Digital scanning of all documents will replace the microfilming process. Old microfilm volumes will still be available for viewing and research.
